It’s one month to go until The Secrets of Meadow Farmhouse is out in the world and I cannot wait to share this story with you!

I thought I’d take this chance to tell you a little bit more about the family history secret that inspired this novel and give you a chance to meet Amelia and Adam ahead of time. I really hope you like them!

Amelia loves her life in Paris but with the surprise inheritance of her childhood home, Meadow Farmhouse, she has no choice but to return to the small village of Meadowbank to restore her great-aunt’s old farmhouse. However returning to Meadowbank means she has to confront her past, including old flame Adam.

When Amelia discovers a locket hidden in the farmhouse, containing the picture of a mysterious World War Two soldier, she starts to uncover the secrets of her great-aunt’s past and is drawn further into village life. Shocked by the warm welcome from the villagers and her own surprising feelings for first love Adam, Amelia is suddenly confused as to where she truly belongs.

Can Amelia finally confront her own past and find where her heart truly calls home?

Have you ever wanted to live in Paris?

Writing Amelia was my excuse to live out this fantasy, though because of lockdown, I didn’t get to do a research trip! Poor Amelia suffered the loss of her parents at a very young age and ended up living with grumpy great aunt Vera who never seemed to want her around. Unsurprisingly, she left as soon as she could leaving first love Adam behind. She always believed she’d keep in touch and the fact she didn’t has always been one of her biggest regrets, but now great aunt Vera has passed away, leaving her Meadow Farmhouse, she has no choice but to return home and face him and her past!

The inspiration behind Adam Noble

Sam Heughan anyone? Or maybe even Michael Fassbender as Mr Rochester? Just picture him as you think about sweet, loyal Adam. He never thought he’d see Amelia again and now she’s come home he has no idea what to do, especially as she’s more beautiful than ever. As they get to know each other again, we’re channelling massive Persuasion vibes! (Are you as much of a fan of the TV adaptation as I am?!).

Oh, and one of the things my editor loved most about Adam…his relationship with his batty mum, Lynne!

The Secret

When Amelia returns, she comes across a locket amongst Vera’s possessions and this inspires a search to find out more about great aunt Vera and why she was so unhappy. This part of the novel was based on my own family history and an exciting discovery made a few years ago.

My great-grandmother, Marion, had a locket that she gave to my mum and it was then passed on to me. I won’t tell you anymore about it now because I don’t want to give any spoilers, but it’s a real family heirloom and once you’ve read the Acknowledgements at the back of the book, you’ll understand it all.
