Hello and welcome everyone!

I’m Katie, a writer of contemporary romance, published by HarperCollins/ HQ Digital. My lovely Seafront Series (The Little Theatre on the Seafront and Summer Season on the Seafront) and my stand-alone Christmas novel Snowflakes at Mistletoe Cottage is available now! There’s also my new series set in gorgeous Swallowtail Bay coming in 2020!

There’s a couple of links above, but if you’re not in the UK, all the links are on the Publications page so please hop on over and grab a copy! I promise you’ll love it!

If you love funny, warm chicklit then stick around! We’ll have lots to discuss. But I also like blogging about other random things like writing, gin, life … more gin! I hope you’ll join me!

One of the best around – Jenny Colgan AKA The Queen of Chick Lit

I don’t know if Queen of Chick Lit is actually Jenny Colgan’s title. She probably goes by Mrs Colgan, or something less dramatic. But to me, she is totally the queen of the genre. I await her books with childlike anticipation and once I’ve read it and realise I have to wait like, a year or two, until the next one comes out, I’m like the kid who opened all their Christmas...

Save our libraries!

A recent article in The Bookseller detailed the funding crisis facing libraries in the United Kingdom.  It really touched my heart. I loved visiting the library on rainy days and coming home with a book. When I was on maternity leave, before my baby arrived, I would go down once a week and get four or five books to see me through! And now, I take my children to the library as much as I can. They...

Lost Words – Let’s bring ’em back!

As a lot of this blog is about writing, I wanted to write a regular article on my favourite forgotten words. You know the type of thing, those poor lost words that sit at the back of our minds, gathering dust, having been discovered years ago in literature classics like Dickens, or Austen. They are the spices of the literary world, but I refuse to let them sit in a cupboard and be ignored until...

One of the best around – M C Beaton

I’ve been wanting to write an article on M C Beaton for a while. She is, without doubt, one of my favourite authors, for a number of reasons. But before I start, let me tell you a little bit about her, in case you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know who she is.   Success – Can I get a little? M C Beaton, or Marion Chesney, which is her real name has written...

The ‘Bookseller from hell’? Really?

I read the best article in The Bookseller’s newsletter recently and I just had to write about it here. A bookshop owner from Yorkshire is charging his customers 50p entry and he also, according to the article, called one of them a ‘pain in the arse’. Now, I found this interesting for two reasons. Firstly, for what it says about the industry, and secondly, for the sheer enjoyment...

New Year, New Writing!

As I write this my puppy is attacking my head, but I won’t let it put me off! Wednesday’s are going to be my blog posting day and that means getting started! I’m kicking off 2017, and coincidentally, my blog, with a post about resolutions and getting the New Year off to the right start. I’ve been a little bit of a chicken and haven’t made any real resolutions, apart...

Katie Ginger

The first thing you need to know about me is, I like gin. Lots and lots of gin.
I live in the South East of England in a lovely little town by the sea and spend my time working, running around after my kids, walking our King Charles Spaniel, Wotsit, and writing!

I love history and have a Master’s degree, but have also been lucky enough to work in various castles and museums over the years. I’ve yet to get one of them into a story though – I really must try harder!
