But, I also love writing and reading cozy mysteries, an couldn’t resist penning a historical cozy mystery series featuring an amateur sleuth and her friends in the mystery-reading book club, The Sleuthing Club under the pen name K E Coburn!

No longer our unknown soldier

A few years ago, before I had kids, I decided to do some family history research. I’d always been interested in who my ancestors were, where they came from, and what sort of lives they lived. Thanks to Ancestry I found out a lot of information but one person always eluded me – my great grandfather. You see, my grandmother, Violet, was illegitimate. My great grandmother, Marion, had met and...

It’s A Crazy, Crazy Life!

So again I need to start with an apology. I haven’t posted in over a month and it’s all because life went completely mental! After getting my book deal and actually signing the contract (so exciting!) I’m now straight into revisions for my first book which is due to be published in September. I hadn’t been through this process before and didn’t really know what to expect but my editor is super...

Exciting News!

Sorry I’ve been quiet and didn’t post last week but I have some super exciting news… I’ve signed a two-book deal with Harper Collins’ digital imprint HQ Digital UK (@HQDigitalUK). I honestly could not be more excited. My first book will be published in September 2018 and the second one in 2019 and it has been completely life changing for me. I’ve achieved a lifelong ambition! Since I was a little...

Lost Words – Let’s Bring ‘Em Back!

As a lot of this blog is about writing, I wanted to write a regular article on my favourite forgotten words. You know the type of thing, those poor lost words that sit at the back of our minds, gathering dust, having been discovered years ago in literary classics like Dickens, or Austen. They are the spices of the literary world, but I refuse to let them sit in a cupboard and be ignored until...

What’s Your Writing Process

Sorry for not having posted anything for the last month, guys, but I was hit by this horrible flu that’s going around and was so, so poorly for ages. I’m now back to mostly full health now though and trying to get back on track. Thanks for sticking with me! The trouble with being poorly is that my whole schedule has gone completely out of the window and I wasn’t really sure what to write about...

Frankenstein Is 200 Years Old!

(Or is it more considering all his body parts were different ages?) January 2018 marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, a classic in English literature and studied in schools throughout the UK. It’s a novel known throughout the world but rather than focus on analysing the text in this blog post, I wanted to focus a little more on the woman and how she came...

Katie Ginger

The first thing you need to know about me is, I like gin. Lots and lots of gin.
I live in the South East of England in a lovely little town by the sea and spend my time working, running around after my kids, walking our King Charles Spaniel, Wotsit, and writing!

I love history and have a Master’s degree, but have also been lucky enough to work in various castles and museums over the years. I’ve yet to get one of them into a story though – I really must try harder!
