Hello and welcome everyone!

I’m Katie, a writer of funny contemporary romances, published by HarperCollins/ HQ Digital. The first book in my new series, Spring Tides at Swallowtail Bay, is published in March with two more books to follow this year.

If you don’t want to wait for those, there’s also my lovely Seafront Series (The Little Theatre on the Seafront (shortlisted for the Katie Fforde Debut Romantic Novel of the Year 2019) and Summer Season on the Seafront. And if you love a Christmas novel, there’s my stand-alone book Snowflakes at Mistletoe Cottage.

There’s a couple of links above, but if you’re not in the UK, all the links are on the Publications page so please hop on over and grab a copy! I promise you’ll love it!

If you love funny, warm chick-lit then stick around! We’ll have lots to discuss. But I also like blogging about other random things like writing tips, gin, life and … more gin! I hope you’ll join me!

My First NaNoWriMo

Yesterday I began my first ever NaNoWriMo challenge. For those that don’t know, it’s National Novel Writing Month in November and the challenge is to write 50,000 words and produce a first draft by the end of the month. I already had a novel planned out, a 1950’s murder mystery story, but due to life getting in the way, hadn’t managed to write a single word of the actual manuscript. I decided to...

Can You Still Be Productive When You’re Time Poor – Part 2

The answer is…dun, dun, derrrrrrr…survey says…drum roll, please…(Okay, I’ll stop now. We all know it’s not that interesting!) YES! You can! So, if you’ll remember from last weeks’s post, with the kids on half term, time wasn’t my own and I was finding it increasingly frustrating. Even while they were in school my progress with my to-do list was incredibly slow, so half term was causing my stress...

Can You Still Be Productive When You are Time Poor?

So, I’ve managed to accomplish pretty much nothing since my kids started back at school in September and now we’re on half term holidays and the little critters are back under my feet for the next ten days. Yes, you read that right – ten days! Between housework, entertaining the kids, referring aurguments and walking the dog, my time is going to be severely limited. My stress levels are already...

Lost Words – Let’s Bring ‘Em Back!

As a lot of this blog is about writing, I wanted to write a regular article on my favourite forgotten words. You know the type of thing, those poor lost words that sit at the back of our minds, gathering dust, having been discovered years ago in literary classics like Dickens, or Austen. They are the spices of the literary world, but I refuse to let them sit in a cupboard and be ignored until...

Why it’s important to preserve your friendships

At the start of the year, I left my part-time office job to work from home and write. I haven’t missed the job, but I have missed my colleagues (a lot!). I met some amazing people there and I miss them. We catch up from time to time but we’re all busy and it isn’t as often as we would like. I don’t know how many of you guys out there are stay at home parents, or work from home, but if, like me...

Katie Ginger

The first thing you need to know about me is, I like gin. Lots and lots of gin.
I live in the South East of England in a lovely little town by the sea and spend my time working, running around after my kids, walking our King Charles Spaniel, Wotsit, and writing!

I love history and have a Master’s degree, but have also been lucky enough to work in various castles and museums over the years. I’ve yet to get one of them into a story though – I really must try harder!
