Hello and welcome everyone!

I’m Katie, a writer of funny contemporary romances, published by HarperCollins/ HQ Digital. The first book in my new series, Spring Tides at Swallowtail Bay, is published in March with two more books to follow this year.

If you don’t want to wait for those, there’s also my lovely Seafront Series (The Little Theatre on the Seafront (shortlisted for the Katie Fforde Debut Romantic Novel of the Year 2019) and Summer Season on the Seafront. And if you love a Christmas novel, there’s my stand-alone book Snowflakes at Mistletoe Cottage.

There’s a couple of links above, but if you’re not in the UK, all the links are on the Publications page so please hop on over and grab a copy! I promise you’ll love it!

If you love funny, warm chick-lit then stick around! We’ll have lots to discuss. But I also like blogging about other random things like writing tips, gin, life and … more gin! I hope you’ll join me!

Half term holidays are fast approaching and as much as I love this time of year of cuddling the kids snuggled under blankets and drinking ridiculous hot chocolates covered in whipped cream and marshmallows, there are times when life gives you an endless to-do list.   The school holidays might be a break for the kids but the chances are it isn’t for the mums, dads and carers out there...

Lost Words – Let’s bring ’em back!

As a lot of this blog is about writing, I wanted to write a regular article on my favourite forgotten words. You know the type of thing, those poor lost words that sit at the back of our minds, gathering dust, having been discovered years ago in literary classics like Dickens, or Austen. They are the spices of the literary world, but I refuse to let them sit in a cupboard and be ignored until...

Why I Decided to Give Writing a Real Go

I’ve been putting off writing this post for a while, but it’s one I knew I was going to have to write eventually. I’ve wanted to share with you the real reason why I decided to give writing a go and as a natural sharer, this should have been easy for me. But it wasn’t. You see, I originally got back into writing after being redundant, which was fine. I wasn’t all...

Back to School!

I love this time of year! Autumn is without doubt my favourite season, particularly this year after such a long hot summer. I love that feeling of a new school year full of opportunity and promise and luckily, my kids do too.   The other thing I love about it is that I can sneakily buy myself new pens and notebooks when I’m shopping for the kids back to school supplies! Come on, who...

The Worst Writing Advice I’ve Ever Heard (And Learned To Ignore!)

When I first started writing I was so consumed with knowing ‘the rules’ that I followed them blithely and without question. But then when I posted things for critique in my writing group, people would still spot things that were ‘wrong’ and, to be honest, it didn’t make sense! I was following the rules, so why wasn’t it perfect? Then I realised, my writing...

Katie Ginger

The first thing you need to know about me is, I like gin. Lots and lots of gin.
I live in the South East of England in a lovely little town by the sea and spend my time working, running around after my kids, walking our King Charles Spaniel, Wotsit, and writing!

I love history and have a Master’s degree, but have also been lucky enough to work in various castles and museums over the years. I’ve yet to get one of them into a story though – I really must try harder!
