So NaNoWriMo has been all about my new novel and I’m so excited to have the first draft finished! I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s a cosy murder mystery set in England in the 1950’s, in a small country village.

The plot centres around a reading club who focus on murder and crime novels. They’re called The Sleuthing Club! Awesome, isn’t it! The main sleuth is a vicars daughter, called Charity, who is fed up with her quiet, boring life of parish duties and Sunday school teaching. The love interest is an ex-War Office analyst dealing with the difficult decisions he made during World War Two (think Tom Hiddleston all angst riddled and brooding! Lovely. Anyway…) There’s a whole bunch of other characters, some nice and some not so nice. And as I write, my characters are taking me on new adventures, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the end!

This is the first book in The Sleuthing Club Mystery series and I’m so excited about where my character’s will be in two or three books time. I love plotting out a series, whether it’s short stories or longer works. I love the scope you have to slow down a character’s development and really plan it over the long term. It’s like watching your kids grow up!

If you want to check out my inspiration for this book and see updated images relating to it, check out my Pinterest page (Katiegingerbooks). I’ve got a board for all the things connected to this including the settings and characters.

I know I’m a good few years late to the party, but Pinterest is completely awesome for this sort of thing and can be a great tool for authors to build an interest in their work, even while they’re still writing it. I’ll be writing a longer post on this soon so I won’t go into too much detail now, but I completely love it as a writing aid and a marketing tool.

Anyway, the title is still to be confirmed. I have three in mind, and I’d really love to know what you think. Do you prefer:

A) Murder by the Pen

B) A Crime of Letters

C) Death Remembered

Let me know in the comments section below!

Make sure you keep an eye out on here for further updates as I’ll be posting some snippets once it’s been through the whole editing process. Right now, it’s just a first draft spewed out during NaNo so there’s a lot of work to do on it.

I’m looking forward to hearing which title you prefer, but do stop by and let me know what you’re currently working on, or reading in the comments section.
